Standing Calmly

So I was doing a little light reading this summer: John Calvin's Institutes of Christian Religion. Abridged version of course. Oh, and in English. And, actually, he wasn't as all uptight and, um, Calvanistic as I thought he might be.

Actually, the dude can write. And, man, does he know his bible. Anyway, I highlighted about half the book so you'll probably hear more about it, but there was this one line that keeps running through my head. It goes, "..our faith is not real unless it allows us to stand calmly in the presence of God." Come on. Is that not the most beautiful thing to think about? "Hey God. I'm here. You're here. And I am totally calm. I am so flawed yet you are so forgiving. So I am calm. I do nothing to earn your forgiveness yet your grace is complete and unconditional. So I am calm.

Standing calming in the presence of God. Pretty cool place to be.

  2. That's an awesome quote! We can be calm in His presence as long as we are trusting in His Son to cover our sins.
