...by the words of Pat Robertson.
I have read opinions to that effect today.
His proclamation that Haiti's earthquake comes as divine reckoning for past political deeds and current theological transgressions has alienated many. Rightfully so.
But to condemn all Christians based on Robertson's words seems as judgemental as ...well...as Robertson himself.
I talked with my pastor about this today.
Robertson, Pastor T. said is no longer an evangelist. "He's an anti-evangelist."
"What do you mean by that?" I asked.
"He's working against the Gospel."
Working against the Good News that Jesus Christ's death on the cross restored our relationship with God. The Gospel is about forgiveness not condemnation.
This is a time for compassion not condemnation.
And compassion is something the Christians I know do very, very well.

Wow. I had no idea that Pat Robertson had turned anit-evangical. That's really sad. I do believe everything happens for a reason, but I don't believe that bad things happen because people deserve them.
