Oh, how the spirit swelled in my heart this morning. I could just feel it spreading in my chest until I was about to burst. And spreading still...out into the sanctuary. And into the world beyond. And, oh, how I needed that.
It was the music that started it. Music can do that. An African-American spiritual based on the scripture verse "keep your lamps trimmed and burning." An a cappella group called Cantus just raised the rafters on that piece. Let me tell you, Presbyterians don't clap in church but this morning we were a clappin'. Talk about making a joyful noise!
When I went online to find some of the group's music so I could link you to it, I read that Cantus is considered by some the premier men's vocal ensemble in the country. So I'm feeling pretty blessed to have heard them this morning. Now you can, too, right here. Enjoy!
